More M-4 Rifles to be Acquired for the AFP
MANILA (PNA) – Citing proper and efficient bidding procedures, President Benigno S. Aquino III said on Thursday the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) will soon be getting additional Remington M-4 automatic rifles for its ground units.
The President made the announcement during the ceremonial distribution of new weapons to soldiers at the AFP canopy area in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City.
The procurement and distribution of modern equipment to the AFP is done to match the courage and valor of its personnel, President Aquino stressed.
Fund for the purchase of the M-4 rifles was sourced from the AFP Capability Upgrade Program.
An initial 27,300 M-4 units were shipped last July and the remaining 23, 329 units will be delivered by December.
Total M-4 orders for the AFP is placed at 50,629 units.
